The only major league player given both the first and last names of movie star "Rudolph Valentino", Rudy Regalado played three years in the majors in the 1950's.
He got most of his at-bats with the 1954 Indians, a team that won 111 games. In the 1954 World Series, he appeared in four games, going 1-for-3.
He was at USC at the same time as Bob Lillis.
His nephew Sam Regalado, a professor at Cal State Stanislaus, is an expert on the role of baseball in American culture who has written a book on the subject and appeared in television documentaries.
