Roy Zimmerman played well during his one stint in the majors in September 1945, showing some power. His .439 slugging percentage was one of the better ones on the 1945 Giants, an above-.500 team.
Zimmerman and Otis Clymer are (through 2009) the only two major leaguers born in Pine Grove, PA.
Roy played over a decade in the minors. He was at Newark for most of the 1945 season, hitting 32 home runs. Oddly, he was not normally a home-run hitter, banging only four the previous year.
