Weatherly was mostly a center fielder although he started as a right fielder in the majors and also had one season where he appeared more in left field. The Indians were a steadily improving team from 1936-40.
Roy started his minor league career in 1934, hitting .346 for Opelousas. Beginning in 1946, he played several years for Indianapolis and then was with other teams through 1954, with a brief appearance in 1958. He was back up in the majors in 1950.
Weatherly entered the Army in April 1944 and was discharged in April 1946.
