On July 4, 1952, Audie Malone, a righthanded pitcher, switched his glove and pitched left handed to the Artesia Drillers' slugger Joe Bauman. In the first inning he struck Bauman out lefty, but gave up a single in his other at-bat. Malone stayed righty against the rest of the lineup.
