[edit] Biographical Information
Besides playing in MLB, Ron Belliard is a keen Winter League player in the Dominican Republic for the Licey Tigers. He is the captain of the team, and most of the time plays third base, instead of second base which is the position he plays in MLB. His efficiency defending third base has coined him the nickname of La Pared ("The Wall"). He is admired even by his rivals because of the stamina he puts into his game and because he knows how to get the best from his team mates. Belliard hit .273/.304/.455 for Licey in the 2008 Caribbean Series but struggled defensively, with four errors in six games for the titlists.
