Ron Cook started his career as an outfielder in the New York Yankees chain in 1966-1967. Cook hit .186 in 1966 and his batting averages kept dropping in 3 stops in 1967. He was drafted by the Houston Astros after the 1967 season and became a pitcher for the Oklahoma City 89ers in 1968.
