Brother of Dick Allen & Hank Allen, Ron Allen was 28 years old when he played 7 games for the 1972 St. Louis Cardinals. He was a first baseman, and the Cardinals first baseman at the time was Matty Alou.

Allen was the slugger on the 1966 Spartanburg Phillies who went 91-35. He hit 16 home runs in 94 games, double the amount of any other player on the team.

In 1968, he led the Reading Phillies in home runs. He has been elected to the Reading Baseball Hall of Fame.

Ron, along with his brothers, was a big basketball star at Wampum High School in Pennsylvania.
