Stillwell attended the University of Southern California in 1959-61. Don Buford, Marcel Lachemann, and Tom Satriano were there at the same time.
He played for Regina in the Canadian-American League in 1959.
A "Ron Stillwell" coached baseball at Moorpark High School and at California Lutheran University. His record was 139-100 at Cal Lutheran from 1972-78.
A collision with an outfielder while playing Triple A ball cut his playing career short.
