 Biographical Information
Rolando Petit is a former minor league player and international baseball scout.
Petit went 2 for 6 for the 1983-1984 Leones del Caracas. He played one year in the Atlanta Braves organization, hitting .255/.282/.314 in 56 games for the GCL Braves in 1988. He fielded .893 between the outfield and all four infield slots, not getting more than 12 games at any position. He was 0 for 5 for the Cardenales de Lara that winter, his second and last look in the Venezuelan League. After his playing days, he was a Braves scout, with Martin Prado and Elvis Andrus among his signees.
Petit was invited by Major League Baseball International to give instructional seminars on player development on tours throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. He served as a Director of Player Training and Development for the Venezuelan professional team, Tiburones de la Guaira (1997-2000). Petit has served the Braves organization as a Scout (1991-2002), Area Supervisor (2003-2004), Minor League Scouting Supervisor (2005-2007), Assistant Director of Latin American Operations (2007-2008; 2015-Present), Assistant Director of International Operations (2009-2015).
Rolando Petit has scouted for players in Aruba, Argentina, Brazil, Costa Rica, Curacao, Colombia, The Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Panama, Spain, South Korea, Venezuela, and the United States.
