Roland Howell pitched three years for LSU (1910-1912) and had a cup of coffee with the Cardinals in 1912. He is the first major leaguer to come from LSU.
He was a World War I veteran. A retired lawyer, he was Assistant City Attorney in New Orleans until 1925. He also served as a member of Louisiana State University Board of Supervisors from 1942 to 1948, and as National Vice-Commander of the American Legion from 1931 to 1932.
He lived to age 81 and is buried at Roselawn Memorial Park in Baton Rouge LA.
