Catcher Rob Flippo played a handful of games in the Los Angeles Dodgers organization with the Bakersfield Dodgers in 1989, going 5 for 49 with a double and a homer. Following his playing days, he was an assistant coach at Fresno State University (1996), the University of South Alabama (1998), and the University of North Carolina at Wilmington (1998-2001), and spent time on the minor league Wilmington Waves staff in 2001. He is currently the bullpen catcher and batting practice pitcher of the Dodgers, having held that job since 2002. In the 2005 Home Run Derby, he was the pitcher for Hee-seop Choi.
