Rob Ducey was signed as a free agent on May 16, 1984 by the Toronto Blue Jays and director of Canadian scouting Bob Prentice.
Ducey represented Canada at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games. He later coached for Canada, in the 2006 World Baseball Classic and 2008 Final Olympic Qualification Tournament. Nick Weglarz, the home run leader in the 2008 tournament, credited Ducey with helping his mental approach at the plate. He was back with Canada as a coach in the 2008 Olympics.
Rob Ducey was a scout for the Toronto Blue Jays, concentrating on Europe and the Pacific Rim, until he was let go in October 2009 when the club decided to focus their attention on North America and Latin America [1].
He was inducted into the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame in 2013 along with George Bell, Tim Raines, Tom Cheek and Nat Bailey.
