Ricky Otero played three Major League seasons for the Philadelphia Phillies and New York Mets. He retired after the 2002 season after playing three seasons for the Cancun Langosteros of the Mexican League.

Otero abused drugs and alcohol and was found to be living under a bridge in Cancun, Mexico in 2009.
