BUILT: 1910

CAPACITY: 9,312

Rickwood Field opened in 1910 and was the first concrete and steel stadium in the minor leagues. It was modeled after Forbes Field and was named after the owner of the Barons, Rick Woodward. The park was home to the minor league Birmingham Barons and Birmingham Black Barons of the Negro Leagues. The Barons moved to Hoover Metropolitan Stadium in 1988, but since 1996, the club has returned to Rickwood Field for one game each season.

The Rickwood Classic baseball game is played once a year at Rickwood Ballpark located in Birmingham, Alabama. Seen here in 2010

With the demolition of the old Yankee Stadium, Rickwood will be the last extant ballpark to have hosted professional Negro League baseball.
