In 1989, Rick Lysander played for the Bradenton Explorers of the Senior Professional Baseball Association. He saved a league high 11 games and had an ERA of just 1.17. In 1990, Lysander played for the Daytona Beach Explorers, also of the SPBA. He had 4 saves and a 0.00 ERA in 8 games before the league folded.
His son, Brent Lysander, was selected by the Oakland Athletics in the 16th round of the 2007 amateur draft and currently plays in their organization.
