Catcher Rick Sweet was bullpen coach for the Seattle Mariners in 1984 and first base coach for the Houston Astros in 1996. He also spent 1985 and 1986 as a Mariners scout. From 2005 to 2011, he was skipper of the Louisville Bats. In 2012, he was appointed minor league catching instructor for the Cincinnati Reds.
Sweet hit well against the following All-Star Pitchers: Jack Morris (.450), Len Barker (.429), Dennis Eckersley (.400), Rick Sutcliffe (.333) and Charlie Hough (.300).
