The brother of Patrick Beljaards, Richard Beljaards has been a teammate of his brother for several years on Kinheim.

A frequent participant on the Dutch youth national team, Richard has played on several European Cup champions. He saved two games for HCAW in 2000. He tied for sixth in Hoofdklasse in saves. Moving to Kinheim, he saved 7 contests in 2002, placing him second in the league behind Michiel van Kampen. He ranked third in the loop with five saves in 2003. In 2004, he fell to fourth in saves despite increasing his total by one. During 2005, Richard saved eight, third-most in Hoofdklasse. He was 0-1 with a 1.13 ERA that year. He did not pitch in Hoofdklasse in 2006 or 2007.
