Rich Monteleone pitched in the majors for a decade and later spent time as a big league coach.

Originally selected by the Detroit Tigers in the first round of the 1982 amateur draft, Monteleone played four years in their organization before being dealt to the Seattle Mariners for Darnell Coles following the 1985 season. He reached the majors with the Mariners in 1987 and later pitched for the California Angels, New York Yankees, and San Francisco Giants.

Since his playing career ended, Monteleone spent time in the Yankees organization as a coach. He was the pitching coach for the GCL Yankees (1997-1998) and Tampa Yankees (1999-2000). He then served as the New York bullpen coach from 2002 to 2004. He then spent four summers as a special pitching instructor for the Yankees.
