Rich Wortham had one save in his major league career. It came on June 3, 1980 as a member of the Chicago White Sox against the Texas Rangers. He pitched the last out of a 5-4 victory, getting Pat Putnam to groundout with runners on 1st and 2nd.
Wortham outdueled Dennis Martinez, 1-0, in the finale of the 1973 FEMBA Amateur World Series to help Team USA win its first Gold Medal ever in an Amateur World Series. He made the College Baseball Hall of Fame in 2010.
