Even though the Reno Silver Sox had been affiliated with the San Diego Padres since 1975 (shared with the Twins in 1975-1976), they didn't take the Padres moniker until 1982. In 1988 the Padres switched affiliates to the Riverside Red Wave, and Reno returned to the Silver Sox name.
