Renie Martin, one of the most prominent major league pitchers out of the University of Richmond, pitched six seasons in the big leagues. His most notable year was probably 1980 when, mostly as a starter, he went 10-10 and appeared in three 1980 World Series games.
In the 1980 World Series he pitched in relief with an ERA of 2.79.

- In 1990, Martin played for the Florida Tropics of the Senior Professional Baseball Association. He was 1-2 with an ERA of 4.44 when the league folded.
