Outfielder Reggie Sanders was signed by the Cincinnati Reds and scout Don Mitchell as the 7th Round pick of the 1987 amateur draft. In 1990, while playing for the Cedar Rapids Reds, he batted .285 with 17 home runs and 63 RBI, enough for him to be named Midwest League MVP and the league's top prospect by Baseball America.
