The only professional baseball team in the history of Refugio, TX, the Refugio Oilers existed for just one season, the 1938 Texas Valley League campaign. They finished 4th of 6 teams at 67-67 and had no All-Stars. 1B-OF Carl Littlejohn (.344/~.480/.438) was the hitting star while ex-A's player Bing Miller hit a solid .336/~.424/.514 with 24 steals. Ignatius Kubala (17-13, 3.48) was the top pitcher on the squad and was fifth in the league in ERA.
