Red Nonnenkamp spent four years in the major leagues, mostly as a right fielder.
Nonnenkamp competed with the rookie Ted Williams for the right field spot on the 1939 Red Sox.
After baseball he worked for the postal service.
In the minors he spent several years playing for Little Rock. The book Baseball in Little Rock has a team photo including him from 1937, and states that he led the league that year in runs scored and walks.
He also briefly played for the 1932 Tulsa Oilers, a team which went 98-48. In 16 games he hit .391.
He was also known as "Leo" and "Nonny".
