[edit] Biographical Information
Red Barkley was chosen the MVP in the 1941 National Baseball Congress World Series, while playing for the semi-pro Enid Champlins.
In 1943, he was with Montreal. That year he also backed up Arky Vaughan on the 1943 Brooklyn Dodgers (Pee Wee Reese was off in the service).
Barkley was in the USAAF in World War II.
His one year as a minor league manager came in 1947 with the Waco Dons of the Class B Big State League. The team finished 52-101 and in 8th place. He was a scout for over thirty years.
