Pennsylvania native Ray Stoviak spent part of one season in professional baseball in 1938. He was signed as an amateur free agent out of Villanova University by the Philadelphia Phillies and made his debut with the Phillies on June 5, 1938. He appeared in ten games as an outfielder and pinch-hitter, failed to get a base-hit and was released by the Phillies on August 15, of this same season.
Stoviak spent the rest of his only season in the game with the Centreville Colts of the class D Eastern Shore League, appearing in twenty games, picking up 16 hits in 66 at bats for a .242 average. Ray spent the last five games of his short career with the Baltimore Orioles of the International League.
This was the sum and total of the 23-year-old Stoviak's professional baseball career.
Stoviak served with the United States Navy during World War II.
