Ray "Lefty" Boggs was the first player to come to the majors out of the University of Denver. He was up in the bigs for four games with the 1928 Boston Braves.

Until 2008, he was one of only three major league players with the last name Boggs. However, in 2008 the group was joined by Brandon Boggs and Mitchell Boggs. The others are Wade Boggs and Tommy Boggs. Ray was the first Boggs to come to the majors.
