Raul Chavez was signed by Andres Reiner and Ruben Cabrera for the Houston Astros as a non-drafted free agent in 1990. His pro career began with GCL Astros.
Chavez is married with two children. He lives with his wife Charlotte and his son Raul Daniel (born Nov. 11, 1992) and daughter Daniela Steffanny (born Oct. 1, 1998) in Valencia, Venezuela in the offseason.
