Randy Jones picked up the save for the National League in the 1975 All-Star Game, then went on to start the 1976 All-Star Game and get the win. He came into the 1976 All-Star Game with a record of 16-3, an All-Star break win total that no one has equaled since. Those were his only 2 All-Star appearances.
His lifetime record of 100-123 places him as the only Cy Young Award winner amongst pitchers who were starters with a lifetime losing record (as of 2010).
After winning 20 games in back-to-back season in 1975 and 1976, a nerve injury in his pitching arm consequently led to surgery after the 1976 season and Jones was unable to recover up to the level of those seasons
After retiring, Jones worked with young pitchers, among them, future Cy Young Award winner Barry Zito.
His #35 has since been retired by the San Diego Padres.
