Ramón del Monte led the Dominican national team to its brightest moment in an Amateur World Series. He was 4-0 with a 0.34 ERA in the 1948 Amateur World Series, getting half of the Dominican Republic's 8 wins as they won the Series for the only time in their history. He was named Series MVP. Del Monte never played professionally in the USA.
