Rafael Montalvo pitched one game for the 1986 Astros.

He was 17 years younger than teammate Nolan Ryan.

Starting in the minors in 1980, he was almost always a reliever until he became a starter in independent ball in 1999. He worked his way up the Dodgers organization from 1980-85, was in the Houston system from part of 1985 to 1988, and then was in the Angels organization in 1990-91. In 1995 he came back to the Dodgers organization to pitch in 49 games with Albuquerque, where he had first played in 1984.
