He finished second in the Francis Marion University record book in triples (13) and 5th with 73 steals (in 88 tries). Overall, he hit .331 in college. He had 221 hits, 5 shy of the school's record.
Davis was picked in the 13th round of the 2005 amateur draft by the Atlanta Braves. He signed and debuted with the 2005 Danville Braves, where his batting line read .323/.377/.433. He ranked 5th in the Appalachian League in average, between Chris Cunningham and Aaron Cunningham.
With the 2006 Rome Braves, he batted .254/.299/.337 with 8 triples and 41 steals (in 57 tries). He hit .307 against southpaws but only .228 against right-handers, despite batting left-handed. He led Braves farmhands in three-baggers and was second to Ovandy Suero in steals.
In 2007, Quentin hit .261/.301/.349 for the Myrtle Beach Pelicans with 11 triples. He stole 37 bases but was gunned down 21 times. He again led Braves minor leaguers in triples, also leading the Carolina League in that department. Davis was third in the Carolina League in swipes, but was 30 behind Pedro Powell, while leading the circuit in botched steal attempts. He tied for second in all of the affiliated minors in times caught stealing.
Davis batted only .191/.238/.296 for the 2008 Mississippi Braves, though his steal rate improved a bit (10-for-14). After leading Braves farmhands in triples in two straight years, he failed to hit any triples in 199 AB. He was demoted back to Myrtle Beach to start 2009.
