[edit] Team History

The Pulaski Mariners are an Rookie League affiliate of the Seattle Mariners Playing in the Appalachian League. The Pulaski Mariners play their home games at Calfee Park, which was built in 1935 and is one of the oldest working ballparks in professional baseball worldwide.

Following the 2006 departure of the Pulaski Blue Jays, Toronto's Appy League affiliate, Pulaski was without a team for the entirety of the 2007 season. Toronto dissolved the team suddenly during the off-season and left the league unable to fill the void, creating scheduling problems for the league throughout the season.

After 15 months of searching, the Appalachian League and Pulaski Baseball Inc. negotiated a deal with the Seattle Mariners to become the seventh Major League team to affiliate itself with Pulaski. Negotiations with the team began during the 2007 Winter Meetings, but had reached an impasse by week's end. After several weeks of continued discussion, Seattle officially announced that they would be developing a Pulaski franchise on December 21, 2007. The Pulaski Mariners will be the second-lowest level team of the Mariners organization located within the United States, and will serve primarily to aid Latin American players in assimilating the the rigors and needs of American baseball, and to further train draft class players who aren't ready for the more competitive play of the Northwest League's Everett AquaSox. The Mariners also have Rookie league teams in the Arizona League, Dominican Summer League, and Venezuelan Summer League. Despite winning the league title in 2013 the Mariners organization decided not to return to Pulaski for the 2015 season. They will be replaced by the New York Yankees.
