Puerto Plata is the capital of the province of the same name, located on the northern coast of the Dominican Republic. It is a major tourist destination because of its beaches and is located 60 miles northwest of Santiago. Many players have been born here, although for a number of them, their birthplace is a settlement in the province of Puerto Plata and not the city itself.
