Shortstop Preston Mattingly, son of Don Mattingly and brother of Taylor Mattingly, was selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2006 amateur draft. He made his pro debut that year with the GCL Dodgers, hitting .290 with 12 stolen bases in 47 games.
In 2007 Mattingly was the starting second baseman for the Great Lakes Loons of the Midwest League. He finished the season batting only .210 with 85 hits, 42 runs, 40 RBI, and 11 stolen bases in 404 at bats.
Mattingly started the 2008 season again in Midland, MI with the Loons.
