Postseason games prior to 1903 were considered exhibitions. The postseason competitions began with the World's Series in 1884 with the American Association and National League champions. After the AA folded, the Temple Cup was organized for four years in the mid-1890s. The Chronicle-Telegraph Cup was held in 1900.
