Pop-Boy Smith pitched three years in the majors. In 1913 with the 1913 White Sox, he was one of a trio of 21-year-olds on the staff, while two of the oldest pitchers were Ed Walsh and Ed Cicotte. When he pitched for the Cleveland Indians, he was a couple years younger than Stan Coveleski. He managed in the minors from 1921-1923.
He died before his 32nd birthday.
