Outfielder Pookie Wilson played for the Salt Lake City Trappers in 1992 and in the Florida Marlins chain from 1993 to 1997.

Wilson has been a minor league coach since 1999, first as outfield and baserunning coordinator in 1999, and outfield coordinator in 2000 for the Marlins. He worked as a hitting coach in the Kansas City Royals system from 2002-2004, including the Idaho Falls Chukars in 2004. In 2009 Wilson will be the hitting coach for the Burlington (IA) Bees.
