In 1993 the Salt Lake City Trappers of the Pioneer League moved to Pocatello, Idaho, and became the Pocatello Posse. The independent club drew 45,638 fans, 3rd in the 8-team league, and posted a respectable 37-38 record for skipper Ernie Rodriguez. All-Star OF Derek Vaughn (.311/~.362/.428) led the Pioneer League in steals (40 in 53 tries), hits (93) and total bases (128) and was 9th in average. All-Star 1B Will Fitzgerald hit .330/~.440/.541, the 5th-best average and led the PL with 58 RBI. The club's third All-Star was DH Todd Takayoshi (.358/.466/.465), who had the best average and on-base percentage in the league and also led in walks (50). The fourth top-10 player in average was OF-2B David Bingham (.348/~.437/.511), third in the circuit in that category. In the top 10 in ERA was Gene Caruso (7-5, 3.07, 8th in ERA and a league-high 163 Ks in just 111 IP). The top player to emerge from the team was Cory Lidle, who went 8-4 with a 4.13 ERA. Despite a fine year, the team moved back to Utah the next year and became the Ogden Raptors.
