In 1991 the Pioneer League team in Pocatello, ID changed its name from the Gate City Pioneers to the Pocatello Pioneers. The independent club went 21-46, repeating as the worst team in the circuit, with Rich Morales at the helm. They again outdrew only Medicine Hat, bringing in 25,468 fans. Their ERA was 6.30, repeating the 1990 performance of finishing last in the league. Two players finished among the league's top 10 in average - DH-3B Kevin Wong (.365/~.419/.463) and SS Pat Garrigan (.348/~.414/.466). The Pioneers did not return the next year.
