The Pocatello Giants were a San Francisco Giants affiliate in the Pioneer League in 1960 for just one season. Led by manager Mike McCormick, the team finished in last place with a 52-77 record. Third baseman Chico Salmon led the league with 182 hits and catcher Milo Fuller joined him on the league's All-Star team.
Another San Francisco affiliate called the Pocatello Giants began play in the league in 1987. They went 23-47 for manager Rafael Landestoy, and Bill Carlson led the league with 67 RBIs. The next year, they went 26-44 for skipper Jack Hiatt and featured All-Star pitcher Steve Reed. Under the leadership of Deron McCue, they improved slightly to 29-38 in 1989, and pitcher Rob Taylor paced the circuit with a 1.25 ERA. After three seasons as a Giants farm club, San Francisco ended its affiliation with Pocatello after that season, and the club became the independent Gate City Pioneers in 1990.
