Po-Ting Hsiao is the cousin of Yi-Jie Hsiao. He is noted for his defensive ability. He was an infielder for Taiwan in the 2005 World Youth Championship and 2006 World Junior Championship. After Chung-Shou Yang withdrew from Taiwan's provisional roster for the 2009 World Baseball Classic after the roster deadline had passed, the officials allowed Taiwan to replace Yang with Hsiao.
