20-year-old Pil-joon Jang signed with the Los Angeles Angels in December 2008 after completing his Korean army service. Jang was 6-3 with a 3.83 ERA for the 2009 AZL Angels and struck out 72 in 82 1/3 IP while only walking 10. He tied Caleb Thielbar for the Arizona League lead in wins and was third in strikeouts. He led in innings, 15 2/3 ahead of the runner-up.
