Philip Nastu pitched three seasons for the San Francisco Giants (1978-80).

Nastu was born in Bridgeport, CT, attended high school there and went to the University of Bridgeport. Through 2009 he is one of only three major leaguers out of the University of Bridgeport.

He was signed as a free agent in 1976 by the Giants and immediately went 16-4 in the minors in 1977. He spent 1978-80 split between Phoenix and the major league team.

After the 1980 season he was traded to the Chicago Cubs. He spent 1981 at Midland in their organization and then 1982 at Charlotte in the Orioles' organization.

He is mentioned a number of times in the book Bridgeport Baseball, CT.
