[edit] Biographical Information

Phil Clark had an impressive debut in the majors in 1992 when he hit .407 in 23 games with the 1992 Detroit Tigers. The next year he continued to do well as he hit .313/.345/.496 in 240 at-bats.

Clark had played in the Tigers' minor league organization from 1986-92, hitting .332 in the rookie league and then usually hitting a bit under .300 at higher levels. Later, he was back at Pawtucket in 1996, and did well, hitting .325 and slugging .531.

He went over to Japan in 1997, and teamed with Tuffy Rhodes on the Kintetsu Buffaloes. He hit well, finishing second in the league in batting in 1997 and second in the league in homers in 1998.

Clark is the brother of Jerald Clark and minor league shortstop Isaiah Clark.
