Phantom ballplayer

A phantom ballplayer is somebody who is incorrectly listed in source materials but did not actually play. This is often the result of typographical or clerical errors.
The term is also applied to players who spent time on a major league roster but were never used in a game (see Category:Phantom Major Leaguer).
