The Petroleros de Minatitlán were briefly members of the Mexican Southeast League in 1968 and of the Mexican League from 1992 to 1996, compiling only one winning season during that period. In 1997, the became the Potros de Minatitlán for one season. In 2007, they returned to the Liga, but had the worst record in the circuit.
