- 1963 Topps All-Star Rookie Team
- One of only two major league players to play at Lewis & Clark College (through 2006). Justin Baughman is the other.
- Ward's father, Jim, played in the NHL for eleven seasons, but moved to Portland after WWII to coach their professional hockey team.
