Pete Stanicek played two seasons in the major leagues. He hit .240/.424/.280 as the Team USA second baseman in the 1984 Amateur World Series. He stole five bases in six attempts, tying for third in the Series, as the US won Bronze. He came out of Stanford University, where he attended in 1983-85, to the Baltimore Orioles organization, and got 374 at-bats in 1987-88. He played 65 games in left field, 35 at second base, and a few at third base and DH. He was tried at second base in 1987 when Billy Ripken was the Orioles' second baseman, and then in 1988 was the team's fifth outfielder.

He is currently the baseball coach at Lockport Township High School in Illinois.

His brother Steve Stanicek also played in the majors.
