[edit] Biographical Information
Pete Koegel was a very versatile guy in his 62 games in the big leagues. He played 12 games at catcher, 9 at first base, 4 at third base, 2 in left field, 2 in right field, and the rest presumably as a pinch hitter or pinch runner. Most of his games were with the 1972 Philadelphia Phillies, the team on which Steve Carlton won 27 games. Koegel also played for the Milwaukee Brewers.
He also played in Venezuela, setting a single-season record in 1973-74 for the most RBI.
Koegel was one of the tallest players in MLB in the early 1970s, being listed at 6' 6½", and one of the tallest catchers of all time. (See Frank Howard, Dick Hall)
